Latino Addiction Counselor Education Program (LACE Program)

The Latino Addiction Counselor Education (LACE) Program, established in 1994 in Boston as a BSAS-funded initiative under HOPE, supports Latine individuals pursuing careers in the addictions and behavioral health workforce. Now serving both Metro Boston and Western Massachusetts, LACE offers 300 hours of training to meet licensure and certification requirements for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) professionals in Massachusetts. As part of New North Citizens’ Council IDEA (Increasing Diversity and Equity in the Addictions Workforce) initiative, the program is rooted in a social justice framework and features a culturally responsive curriculum developed by and for the Latine community. Training is led by licensed, Master’s-level professionals who reflect the communities they serve. Participants receive mentoring, career planning, internship and job placement support. The LACE Program is committed to advancing health equity by prioritizing access, diversity, and inclusion across the addiction and behavioral health field.
